Gay Takeover of Little Italy // LIVE SHOW

Over the years I've written several articles (here and here) on Italian-American identity. And from time to time I receive messages thanking me (you're welcome). Recently I got a message from the only female operator of a restaurant in Little Italy, Rosanna Russo. She invited me down to discuss how we could encourage our community to be more inclusive.

Her restaurant, Lunella, has a fabulous back room for comedy - it's small with no distractions - so I pitched producing a show there for Pride. I blurted out, "We could call is 'Gay Takeover of Little Italy.'" She responded: That's perfect.

We're probably going to annoy everyone in the district by doing this show, but creating provocative performance experiences that blast people wide open is my forte. And it's 2022 and they need to get over it.

And so - on Thursday, June 16th at 8pm we will have Gay Takeover of Little Italy: An LGBTQ+ Pride Comedy Show.

I booked some of my fav queer comedians to do the show: Calvin Cato, Kate Sisk, Moonie, Dana Friedman, Michelle Slonim, and Ronnie Ascher.
