Family Drama --> Comedy! {Introducing Misfit Melodrama: Mini-Episodes of Misfits Makin' It}
During the Misfit Variety Show the audience reacts the most to hearing their anonymously submitted stories read aloud by my character Carmella Ravolli. There’s something about hearing that other people’s family’s are just as screwed up as yours which is very healing - and funny - for the audience.
I wanted to bring that experience to more people, so for the relaunch of my podcast I created Misfit Melodrama mini-episodes, where myself and fellow comedians riff on audience submitted stories… and ourselves (emphasis on ourselves).
The first two Misfit Melodrama episodes are with Bad Medicine, a sketch troop out of Washington D.C. who is part of the Misfit Variety Show on September 30th at Pie Shop.
They are a fun reminder that no matter how crazy your family stories — there’s crazy just around the corner.
Episode 2 features Elizabeth Kemp and Bethany Stokes of Bad Medicine Comedy. We talk about getting drunk (or not) with our families and how one of us drunk-sings to their pets.
Episode 3 is with Andy Weld and Shoa Tavassoli of Bad Medicine Comedy. We riff on how guilt related to our cultural backgrounds,the concept of WASP heritage, holding grudges, and polyamory.
