Working With White Supremacists // Reconcile the Aisle Podcast

“They do change and that’s what these messages mean. People do change.”

- Sammy Rangel of Life After Hate

I’ve been blessed to be able to sit down with Sammy Rangel, from the organization Life After Hate, for an interview TWICE.

Sammy is on the front lines working with white supremacists to leave the life and open their heart to change.

One of the most shocking things I learned from our time together is that many white supremacists don’t think they’re white supremacists! They’ll say, unironically, “I’m not racist!”

Undaunted, Sammy dives into these situations with empathy and candor.

In the penultimate episode of Season 1 we spoke about the current state of far right hate groups. It’s important to learn what’s going on because it’s a problem that is not going away.

This is episode 127. You can also catch his wisdom in a two-part series on Episodes 109 and 119.

We spoke about how:

  • The far right exploited the pandemic to terrorize vulnerable communities.

  • Far right groups are stealing recruitment techniques from ISIS.

  • The work continues - the election outcome does not change that people have been radicalized

  • We evaluate a conversation with a Trumper (my dad) to give you concrete tips and strategies to engage in this necessary dialogue
