WTF Are You Saying? // Live Show

I watch a LOT of comedy and I’ve observed that most of the time that the audience doesn’t laugh it’s because they have no idea what the comedian is talking about. I think I heard a famous comedian make the same observation, but now I can’t remember who that was, but perhaps it doesn’t matter because I’ve seen it happen so often that 🤷🏼‍♀️.

It’s a common feeling, so I created a show to work with this element of audience experience. It is called WTF Are You Saying: New Jokes Night With Twist. It’s at Lunella, the venue in Little Italy that hosted the Gay Takeover show. They give us a supportive space so the vibe from the last show was all love, so we expect the same for the WTF show, even if audience members are telling the comedians they don’t know WTF they are saying.

Here’s how the show works: we try jokes and when an audience member has a moment of confusion they raise the red flag. (And of course if you don’t want to participate and you can just watch and be confused in your heart.) The comedian then can ask the audience member why they were confused, try the joke another way, or else move on. We’re co-creating on the spot!
