Liberal Blacksheep Holiday Survival Tips // Reconcile the Aisle Podcast

“When we focus on hearing each other everyone will feel heard.”

— Dr. NYC

The holidays are here which is reminding me of this episode of Reconcile the Aisle when I spoke with a therapist who we will call Dr. NYC. She is a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with families and parents co-parenting after divorce and separation. She handles some volatile situations so she can help us get through the holidays!

If you’d like to catch up with Dr. NYC then reach out to me directly on this website and I will pass the message on.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • It’s not always about that moment, it’s about a larger issue.

  • If you’re going to speak about something difficult, which we should be doing, make sure there’s fair fighting, some sort of agreed upon rules and etiquette.

  • If people are not going to abide by these rules then you shouldn’t be having the conversation because at that point no one is open to new ideas anyway.

  • Know what your boundaries are and stick to them.

Let me know how it goes!
